Experiencing my First Chinese Massage

A few weeks ago me and my friend decided to get a massage to get rid of some of those tight muscles and relax for a bit before our work load gets more and more! Tilly had already been to one before so she had a good idea of what it would be like, little did I know, it would be slightly painful. By slightly painful, I mean agony!

I had never had a Chinese massage so I did not know what I was in for. The place was insanely dark, sort of felt like a brothel; I could hardly see where the toilets were. We entered the room where they gave us pyjamas to change into. After all nerves were released and we were more or less relaxed, we insisted we had women masseuses because we did not want men, just incase we did something embarrassing.

We started off by having a bit of a giggle because we were scared and ticklish. Scared because we knew what pain was coming our way and ticklish because at first they did our back and sides which had a mixture of pain and tickle. The masseuses kept laughing at us at the fact that we couldn't stop giggling grim the pain and tickles, but eventually told us off as we were laughing too much...woops.

I'm not going to lie, it took us probably right until the end, when we got our head massages, to finally relax. An hour later of soreness mixed with relief, we were finished. To say we were relieved is probably an understatement. However, I will definitely be going back as they were excellent with sorting out my achy legs and back.

Some advice...I would definitely recommend a Chinese massage if you have a few painful areas, but NOT if you want something relaxing and enjoyable!! Definitely going to get a few less painful ones in Bali (Ahhh only 1 and a half months to go).

What sort of massages have you experienced?
